Privacy policy
Last updated October 7, 2026
The short version: no accounts and no ads. We keep a greeting's words only so its short link can show them: a free one for a year, a paid one until you ask us to delete it, plus your email for paid ones. We count visits with Google Analytics, which never sees a greeting's words. We never sell anything.
What we collect, and why
| What | When | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| A free greeting's words and design | When you send a free greeting | So the short link can show it to the person who opens it. The words stay out of the link itself. Older long links carry their words inside the link and aren't stored. | One year, then deleted. Or sooner if you ask us. |
| A paid greeting's occasion, words and design | When you pay for a Deluxe greeting | So the private link can show it. A copy is kept with the payment at Stripe, as a backup so a paid link can always be restored. | Until you ask us to delete it. Unpaid checkouts are deleted after two days. |
| Your email address | When you pay (Stripe asks for it) | To send your receipt and link, and to resend a lost link | Kept with the paid greeting |
| Reports | When someone reports a greeting | To review and take down greetings that break the rules | 90 days |
| A scrambled code made from a reporter's internet address | When someone reports a greeting | To limit how often one person can report, and to count different reporters. The address itself is never stored. | Up to 90 days |
| Visits: the page opened, whether it was a greeting, roughly where from (country or city), device and browser type, and the site that sent you | When you open SkyGreeting | So we know how many people visit and how they find us (Google Analytics). It's never told a greeting's words, names or private link. Outside the EU, UK, EEA and Switzerland it sets a cookie (_ga) so repeat visits count once; inside them it uses no cookies. | 14 months, then Google deletes it |
| Your last design | When you use Customize | So the site remembers your show next time. It stays in your browser on your device; we never see it. | Until you clear your browser data |
Payments
Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go straight to Stripe and never reach us. Stripe's own privacy policy covers what they do with payment information: stripe.com/privacy.
Who else handles data
- Cloudflare hosts the site and stores paid greetings and reports. Like any web host, it processes your internet address to deliver the page.
- Stripe processes payments and sends receipts.
- Google counts visits (Google Analytics), as described above. We've turned off its advertising features and Google signals, so it isn't used for ads or linked to your Google account. Google's own policy: policies.google.com/privacy.
That's everyone. We don't use advertising networks or sell data. Greetings shown on another website (an embed) don't use Google Analytics at all.
Videos
"Save as video" records the show on your own device. The video is never uploaded to us.
Your choices
- Ask us what we hold about you, or to delete a paid greeting and its email, by emailing hello@skygreeting.com. We'll reply within 30 days.
- Clear your browser data to forget your saved design.
- To keep your visits out of Google Analytics, use Google’s opt-out add-on or a content blocker.
Children
SkyGreeting isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect anything from them. If you think a child has bought a greeting, email us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. See also our terms and refunds.
